Coach Francis Stripp is in his fourth year at Vermont Rowing. He started his collegiate rowing career at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. A native to Canton, NY, he walked onto the rowing team and competed as a varsity member for all four years. Stripp graduated from St. Lawrence in 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in Geology and again in 2017 with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.

During Coach Francis’ first season with Vermont Rowing, he led the team to two top 10 finishes at the Head of the Charles in the Men’s Varsity 4+ and Women’s Varsity 4+, several medaling boats at the Head of the Snake. He is also serving as the Northeast Representative for the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA).

Prior to UVM, Coach Francis served as the Assistant Coach for Bucknell University Men’s Crew from 2017 to 2019. During his time with the Bison, Coach Francis led the M3V8+ to Silver at the 2019 ACRA National Championship in the event’s inaugural race. He also coached the MJV4+ that took home Gold at the 2019 Dad Vail Regatta. While living in PA, he also worked with the Learn-to-Row and Junior summer program at the Central Pennsylvania Rowing Association.

Coach Francis’ coaching career began at St. Lawrence University as a Graduate Assistant Coach for two years, where he primarily worked with the Men’s Novice. In 2016, his MN8+ took home the Liberty League Championship.

Coach Francis resides in Burlington, VT and has been a fireman with Canton Fire & Rescue for 11 years.
